Daniel Raiskin will conduct the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of the orchestral version of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, arranged by Maurice Ravel almost fifty years after the presentation of the original work for piano. A work of sublime inspiration in which the Russian composer used music to describe the landscapes and drawings he saw at the memorial exhibition dedicated to his great friend Viktor Hartmann.

The programme will be completed by Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain and Aram Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto, with Alexandra Conunova on violin. Acclaimed for her virtuosity and impeccable technique, she took first prize at the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hanover and also won awards at the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the Singapore International Violin Competition
