The seventh studio album of the legendary Viennese band 5/8erl in Ehr’n is ready to launch.
BURN ON replaces burnout as the new widespread condition:
Our society is in constant stress. Inner unrest, anxiety, and panic are the symptoms, yet we keep going until exhaustion. Capitalism and the pressure to constantly self-optimize breathe down our necks. Still, breaks are not part of the system – BURN ON!

5/8erl in Ehr’n turn the tables and offer BURN ON! as a sound therapy. Viennese Soul acts as a painkiller against the overwhelming reality of today. The band navigates an almost unexplored part of Austria’s musical landscape: between melancholy, eternal grumbling, and compulsive cabaret silliness, the 8erls create their own world—rewarding listeners with grace, depth, and humor. The Italians have a word for this: Sprezzatura – a composed elegance that conveys ease even in the face of hardship. BURN ON!

In true band tradition, the personal and political are explored. Work is a major topic of the new album – the country needs new work songs, or better: songs of leisure. Everyday language, stylistic quirks, and hollow phrases from our “Geilomobil” storytellers are examined, transformed, and turned into the idiom of Viennese Soul with a good dose of self-irony. Naturally, the sun also plays a key role in BURN ON! Social utopias are imagined at sundown on the Friedensbrücke, and the forced polarization of society is sung away by great choruses. BURN ON!
