When Jupiter, father of the gods, travels with his divine aunt Venus to Vindobona to reconcile with his divine son Apollo, it doesn’t take long before this dreamy provincial town on the Danube is caught up in great romantic confusion. How is it possible that Alcmene slept with her husband Amphitryon while he was still in Germania? And what secret lies behind the slave Gaius Tiberius, who suddenly encounters himself? The gods are up to their tricks and throw human emotions off balance. Must Venus, the goddess of beauty, really transform into a man in order to seduce the slave Octavia? How is anyone supposed to know who is with whom, when, where, and why? And when goddess-mother Juno must explain to a young woman named Leda that her beloved swan is an adulterer, keeping a cool head becomes essential. And then there is cousin Hades, death himself, who engages in a daring bargain. Venus, Jupiter, Juno, Hades and Apollo – a family whose ordinary everyday inter-divine problems bring confusion and despair into the house of Prefect Amphitryon. Pray to the gods that you never cross their path, for they are only human too!
