Raphaela Gromes & Judith Rakers
Concert for Album and Book Release
How many female composers do you know? How many shaped their era – and are yet almost forgotten today?
With her album Femmes, Raphaela Gromes presented composers from the Middle Ages to the present and reached number 1 on the classical charts. She now continues this project in Fortissima! and has selected works by composers such as Hildegard von Bingen, Maria Szymanowska, Henriëtte Bosmans, Nadia Boulanger, and Victoria Yagling. In addition, Raphaela Gromes – together with musicologist Susanne Wosnitzka – wrote a book in which she shares her journey of discovery of these very composers.
Together with pianist Julian Riem, the artist now presents the project on the concert stage – enriched by excerpts from her book, which are read in the chamber music hall of the Berlin Philharmonie by the popular journalist and TV presenter Judith Rakers.
