NILS KITTEL
Born in 2006, Nils Kittel began playing the piano at the age of 11 and started his musical training at the conservatory of the 20th arrondissement of Paris in the class of Branka Balevic-Gasparian.
After five years of musical studies, he obtained his DEM (Diploma of Musical Studies) with highest honors and unanimous congratulations from the jury, and continued his studies at the Regional Conservatory (CRR) of Paris in the class of Yves Henry.
He made his stage debut at the age of 12 at the Fondation Dosne-Thiers in a recital dedicated to Chopin, and has performed regularly ever since.
The following year, he participated in his first international competitions: in 2019, he won first prize at the "France-Amérique" Competition, then first prize at the "Flame" Competition. In 2019, he was selected for the "Young Franz Liszt" Competition in Weimar (cancelled due to the pandemic), and in 2022, he won several prizes at the "Ile-de-France" Competition in Maisons-Laffitte. In 2023, he was a semi-finalist in the "Genève-Musicale" Competition.
Nils Kittel participates in numerous masterclasses in France and abroad and has benefited for several years from the guidance of Tatiana Zelikman.
He explores with equal passion a wide range of repertoire from all periods and is dedicated to improvisation, which he has practiced since his early days with his grandfather, a jazz bassist. Furthermore, composition, writing, and orchestration play an important role in his life as a musician.
He now performs regularly as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles at festivals and recitals: at the Chopin Festival in Nohant, the Salon Romantique in Croissy-sur-Seine, the "Toscana Musicale" Festival in Montaione, Italy, the La Grange-Fleuret Music Library, and the Petit Palais.
