Recently, New Cool Collective celebrated its 30th anniversary. This celebration will be repeated tonight in The Concertgebouw. In the Main Hall you will hear and see a 19-piece big-band, XL version of New Cool Collective, reinforced with extra horns! It all started with saxophonist Benjamin Herman, who performed at Amsterdam's Soul Kitchen with DJ Graham B. Soon, musician friends hooked up and New Cool Collective was born, an ‘extremely tight unit’ that has played countless times in leading clubs, venues and festivals all over the world.

This concert takes place as part of Big Sounds Amsterdam, the adventurous festival for supersized bands and orchestras.

The Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam

The Royal Concertgebouw (Dutch: Koninklijk Concertgebouw, pronounced [ˌkoːnɪnklək kɔnˈsɛrtxəbʌu]) is a concert hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Dutch term "concertgebouw" translates into English as "concert building". Its superb acoustics place it among the finest concert halls in the world, along with Boston's Symphony Hall and the Musikverein in Vienna.

In celebration of the building's 125th anniversary, Queen Beatrix bestowed the royal title "Koninklijk" upon the building on 11 April 2013, as she had on the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra upon its 100th in 1988.
