Max Richter
In a Landscape, The Blue Notebooks
The German-born British musician Max Richter, one of the busiest and most popular pianist/composers active in the modern post-minimalist classical genre today, is coming to Müpa Budapest to perform his first ever concert in Hungary. In addition to his work for the stage, ballet, opera, and Grammy-nominated film scores, he is also known for his countless collaborations across a broad spectrum of the arts. He has re-composed Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, worked with electropop musicians Roni Size and FSOL, created pioneering contemporary classical “documentary music” with his 2002 debut album Memoryhouse, and developed intentionally soporific music for his eight-hour release Sleep. Now, his first world tour brings him to Budapest with material from his 2024 album, In a Landscape, which continues the themes of his second album from 2004, The Blue Notebooks, offering an opportunity to hear excerpts from both works, augmented by a string quintet and a narrator.

Palace of Arts Müpa Budapest
When Müpa Budapest, Hungary and its capital's new cultural hub, opened in 2005, it was built to represent more than 100 years of Hungarian cultural history. As a conglomeration of cultural venues, the building has no precedent in 20th century Hungarian architecture and has no peers in the whole of Central Europe.
The creators of this ambitious project, the Trigránit Development Corporation, prime contractor Arcadom Construction and the Zoboki, Demeter and Partners Architectural Office, were driven by the desire to create a new European cultural citadel as part of the new Millennium City Centre complex along the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Danube waterfront. The result is a facility whose construction quality, appearance, functionality and 21st century technological infrastructure makes it ideally suited to productions of the highest standard. The building is also highly versatile and equipped to host performances of any genre and almost any scale.
