Kammerer OrKöster brings together six of the most interesting young musicians from all corners of the German and Austrian music scene. The compositions of the two band founders Jakob Kammerer and Richard Köster move elegantly between humorous and profound, filigree and powerfully grooving.
The band's special sound is characterized by the unusual instrumentation of the brass section with two trombones, alto saxophone and trumpet and the rhythm section with double bass and drums. Over the last few years, during which the sextet has won the prestigious Burghausen Young Talent Jazz Prize, among others, a familiarity has developed between the six musicians that allows them to surprise the audience and themselves anew at every concert.
The band sometimes sounds like New Orleans, sometimes like a brass band, leaves room for intimate solo passages or spontaneous changes of theme and can sometimes hardly be contained for sheer momentum.
