Dancing Keys: From Waltzes to Tangos

The press raves about Jan Lisiecki as a "gifted rhetorician" at the piano (Münchner Merkur) or as a pianist who "operates beyond superficial virtuosity" and is celebrated for it (Süddeutsche Zeitung). Indeed, for many years, the 30-year-old Canadian has captivated audiences worldwide with his intelligent and strikingly clear playing. It is no wonder, after all, that he can "depict the world in a single chord" (Süddeutsche Zeitung). This extraordinary career has been well documented for 15 years through numerous recordings with Deutsche Grammophon.

Under the title World (of) Dance, Lisiecki devotes his piano recital in the Chamber Music Hall to dances from various European and South American cultures.

In doing so, the pianist spans tangos, folk dances, polonaises, and waltzes, ranging from Schubert and Brahms to Ginastera and Piazzolla. The captivating passion and infectious enthusiasm of the young keyboard star ensure lively listening experiences and perhaps even a (internally) dancing Berlin audience.
