As a continuation of this year's sold-out show “Douglas Linton's Caravan of Songs”, we will come together again next year for the second annual benefit concert for the Vinzirast emergency shelter. It will be a very special evening for a good cause.
The singer-songwriter from Texas, Douglas Linton, who lives in Vienna, plays his own songs covering a broad spectrum of Americana music. The Kurier described him as a “brilliant songwriter” and “secret cultural ambassador of the USA”. His music stays true to the folk, soul, blues and songster tradition, but at the same time carries this tradition forward with vivid storytelling and an undeniable rhythmic pulse.
All proceeds from the concert will go to the VinziRast emergency shelter. VinziRast is an independent, non-profit organization that has been working with homeless people since 2003. People who live or have lived on the margins of society are supported and cared for in eight different projects. People affected by poverty, homeless people, people with a refugee background, people with experience of addiction, people who live in precarious circumstances and often suffer from social isolation find a place of humanity again. VinziRast provides shelter, time and attention and a dignified life in community. Everyone can do something. We all belong together.
Although you never know exactly who will join the musical journey, Vienna-based blues legends Hans Theessink and Erik Trauner, as well as the incredible multi-instrumentalist Helmut Mitteregger and the shimmering vocals of Anja Klipic and Ina Eckhard, are most definitely on board. Also performing are Claudia Fenzl (violin), Ben Brokke (piano), Heli Schiefer (drums, percussion), Matthias Ihrybauer (accordion, bagpipes) and Andrea Fränzel (bass) as well as the multi-talented Robin Gillard, the spiritual godfather of these concerts.
