Already the way to the impressive Advent & Christmas concert through the Christmas illuminated Christmas Market will bring you in a special mood for an unforgettable concert evening. You will enjoy an exquisite 3-course Dinner or VIP Dinner / GOLDEN VIP Dinner in the atmospheric ambience of the festively decorated Panorama Restaurant of Fortress Hohensalzburg. After the dinner, you will be enchanted by musical treasures of W. A. Mozart and his contemporaries and traditional Salzburg Christmas carols, performed  in the historic ambience of the Castle Hall or Golden Hall.

The Salzburg Advent Ensemble, which achieves perfect harmony through its combining of bowed instruments with string music, treats you to musical treasures during the Advent season. Beloved works from W.A. Mozart as well as traditional Salzburg Christmas carols are performed together. The unique, impressive Advent & Christmas concerts take place in the historic surroundings of the Arms Hall or Castle Hall on Salzburg fortress.

To get you in the mood for Christmas Eve, a traditional Christmas Concert takes place in the festively decorated Castle Hall on Salzburg Fortress on 24th December at 3pm. The well-known Salzburg Mozart Ensemble will be performing for you.

During the most wonderful time of the year, the Mozart Orchestra of Salzburg, a chamber orchestra steeped in tradition, brings you first-class concerts in the historic surroundings of the festively decorated Castle Hall on Salzburg Fortress. Well-known and beloved pieces of classical music composed by W.A. Mozart, A. Vivaldi and Dvorak shall be performed.

These Christmas Concerts in the historical surroundings of the medieval fortress are unique to Salzburg and delight thousands of concert-goers each year. A most special concert indeed!

How to get there

Location:

The Fortress Hohensalzburg is reachable via the fortress railway, Festungsgasse 4, 47°47'44''N 13°2'46''E  (Google maps plus code: Q2WW+HC Salzburg, Österreich)
Please present your print@home ticket at the ticket counter of the fortress railway valley station in order to receive a free ticket for the fortress railway.
The ascent with the fortress railway is applicable to concert guests from one hour before the concert and for dinner + concert guests from 30 minutes before the dinner respectively!

HOW TO GET THERE:
Fortress Hohensalzburg is located in the pedestrian zone in the heart of the Old Town. Direct access to the fortress via car is not possible!
The fortress can be reached within about 15 minutes on foot from most of the city’s hotels, we therefore generally advise city hotel guests not to undertake the journey to the area surrounding the fortress with their own car.
Getting there with a taxi:
Taxis can drop you off directly by the valley station of the fortress railway and can be ordered by calling 0043-662-8111.
Getting there with a car:
We recommend the Old Town car park “Altstadtgarage” at Hildmannplatz 1, Entry (Einfahrt) B. Then follow  in the garage the signpost “FESTUNG/DOM”. The walk to the fortress from there then takes about 10 minutes. After leaving the garage cross the” Toscaninihof” and turn right direction “DOM (big cathedral)”. In front of the DOM you can see on the right sight the fortress at the mountain Mönchsberg. Cross the “Kapitelplatz” which leads into the Festungsgasse.
You can have your parking ticket punched at the evening box office at the entrance to the concert hall. You can then park at a reduced rate.
