Compagnia Opus Ballet – A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Wednesday, 6 May 2026 – 20:30

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the new choreographic project by COB Compagnia Opus Ballet, which premiered at the Teatro Romano in Verona in August 2024 as part of the Estate Teatrale Veronese. The production celebrates William Shakespeare by blending classical music, dramaturgy, and contemporary dance, inspired by one of his most famous comedies. The choreography, created by Davide Bombana, revisits the themes of irrationality and absurdity found in Shakespeare’s text. Between reality and hallucination, a group of dancers brings to life a lively and unpredictable web of love. Interwoven with the story of the four young lovers is that of Oberon and Titania, king and queen of the realm of fantastical visions, whose conflict disrupts the balance of the world.

COB Compagnia Opus Ballet, supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Tuscany Region, has presented its choreographies in major Italian venues and in prestigious international festivals, including the Prisma Festival (Panama), the Amman Contemporary Dance Festival (Jordan), and the In2IT International Dance Festival (Norway). Davide Bombana, an internationally renowned choreographer, has been director of the Ballet Company of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo since 2021. He has created choreographies for the Paris Opera, the National Ballet of Canada, the Ballet of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper, the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich, and the Grand Ballet de Genève.
