Palazzo Firenze
PALAZZO FIRENZE HOSTS GREAT MUSIC IN ROME
Palazzo Firenze is an elegant Renaissance building constructed in the 16th century at the request of Jacopo Cardelli, secretary to Pope Leo X. It later came into the possession of the Medici family and, from 1561, became the Roman residence of Cosimo I de’ Medici, from whom it takes its current name. The palace’s final design is attributed to the Florentine architect Bartolomeo Ammannati, who expanded the structure and organized it around a striking and spacious courtyard. The palace is famous for the magnificent frescoes in the Sala Serianni, dating back to the Mannerist period, around the mid-16th century. The decorations in the hall, attributed to Prospero Fontana, were created specifically between 1553 and 1555, at the request of the Del Monte family. Palazzo Firenze now serves as the headquarters of the Società Dante Alighieri. It opens to the public on special occasions, such as concerts and exclusive guided tours.
The splendid Sala Serianni will host the concerts.
