Öksüz/Yilmaz/Dzihan 'Ex Oriente Deluxe – Eden 25 Years' (A/TK)
At a time when Vienna was once again becoming one of the most exciting, eclectic and internationally acclaimed music capitals, the EDEN project was born in a bedroom studio. Driven by the artistic freedom with which Viennese artists were praised worldwide as the "zeitgeist", Özden Öksüz and Metin Kendal Yilmaz, together with Vlado Dzihan, recorded an equally eclectic oriental album that was ahead of its time.
What makes Eden's music special is the way in which oriental mysticism was poured into unconventional song forms. A spherical breath of sound, a melody, mystical soundscapes, sometimes driving, sometimes floating, sometimes enraptured. Every note tells a story, every sound evokes emotions, from longing melancholy to euphoric lightness.
For the first time, the formation presents the complete songbook of their 2000 album with a top-class live band as well as unreleased pieces that are deeply moving. In a world of sensory overload, this is a concert that decelerates, enchants and captivates with its mysticism.
