The Renaissance Villa Vila Vipolze is a meeting place for artists, connoisseurs and culture lovers for exhibitions, concerts and shows, perfect for discovering and experiencing art, as the Renaissance put man at the centre of attention and awakened the ideals of the old creative spirit. Vila Vipolže was originally a hunting lodge of the Counts of Gorizia and was used for a long time for summer holidays. The later owners were the nobles of the Herberstein, Della Torre, Attems and Teuffenbach families. In the 16th and 17th centuries the manor experienced the war between the emperors and the Venetians. The latter renovated the manor house in the first half of the 17th century, transforming it into an exquisite Renaissance villa of rectangular shape with two angular towers leaning against it and Venetian decoration. The owners used it as a summer residence with a magnificent park decorated by a Baroque fountain.

Vila Vipolže

At the beginning the Villa was the hunting lodge of the Counts of Gorizia which for a long time was used for summer pleasures. Its successive owners were the nobles of the Herberstein, Della Torre, Attems and finally the Teuffenbach families. In the 16th and 17th century, the palace suffered the war between the emperors and the Venetians. In the first half of the 17th century, the Venetians transformed it into a luxurious Renaissance villa with a rectangular shape, two square towers and Venetian-style decorations. The owners used it as a summer residence with a beautiful park adorned with a baroque fountain.

During the two world wars, Villa Vipolže was not spared and in the end in 1948 it was also hit by fire. Then, during her long sleep, Sleeping Beauty here and there hosted parties and wine festivals on a newly built dance floor. Now the scaffolding has fallen down. Villa Vipolže has awakened. It is a cosmopolitan city that is inaugurating its first season with its new regional cultural and congress centre.
